(main programs as well as Codecs):

dBpowerAMP Settings is
shown after installation and can be recalled at any time from Start >> Programs >>

First Setting Page
concerns dBpowerAMP's integration within Windows Explorer, full
explanation for each option is given here: dMC Windows Explorer Integration
Second Setting Page has
dBpowerAMP General Options and configures:
-
Write mp3 ID Tags
as: there are many different types of mp3 ID Tag, yet no one
tag type is universal in its usage, ID3v2 is close but even that
has many types. If your language has characters outside of the
normal ANSI range (a-z) it is recommended that ID3v2 Unicode is
selected, but test your chosen audio player is able to read
Unicode tags, second recommendation is ID3v2 non-Unicode.
-
Connect to freedb
to Retrieve Audio CD Titles: ordinarily audio CDs do not
contain track titles or artist information, the cleaver freedb
internet database contains track tiles, all that is required is
an internet connection when your audio CD is inserted.
-
Use AccurateRip
whilst Ripping Audio CDs (default off): is a useful tool
giving confirmation that each Audio CD ripped is without error
(might be a scratch on CD or dust), by comparing your ripping
results with those from others.

Versions
Every component of
dBpowerAMP can be checked in this section, as dBpowerAMP is updated
in Releases (instead of version such as 1.005.506) it is relatively
easy to check against dBpowerAMP's web site for updates.
Installed Encoders &
Installed Decoders
Lists all Codecs
installed within dBpowerAMP and equally important the version,
periodically updates to audio codecs are made offering quality or
speed improvements.
Options
Pro. Frequency Conversion will
be only of interest to those who convert between frequencies, most people
will record a CD at 44KHz and create a 44KHz mp3 file, so it is not used.
For those that convert files to different frequencies, this option can be
switched on to use Naoki Shibata's (released under LGPL)
SSRC conversion code, which gives much better sounding files (but slower conversions).
Each Audio Codec will
also add advanced options, generally speaking these options are for
advanced users - if in doubt leave as default.
ID Tag Options
Most audio formats
contain ID Tags, many formats have a choice of multiple ID Tag
standards (mp3 has ID3v1, ID3v2, APEv2), this option configures
which ID Tags are used when creating new tags. See Start >> Programs
>> dBpowerAMP Music Converter >> Help >> Codecs for
details specific to each Codec.
Copy Configuration to
Clipboard is useful for trouble shooting, everything configured in
dBpowerAMP is copied to the clipboard, this could then be pasted onto
dBpowerAMP's forum for support.
