Auxiliary Input is enhanced with the Power Pack adding:

  • Smart Track Lengths: Auxiliary Input knows when to look for a track splicing point,
  • Correct addition of audio present during Auto Start and correct exclusion of audio during Auto End,
  • Higher recording frequencies, bit rates and channels,
  • Write Playlists,
  • Listen to recorded audio whilst recording (full duplex sound card required),

Smart Track Lengths

When using the Auto End option a threshold is set (a percentage) and when the audio level drops below this threshold for a set length of time recording is stopped (and the next track can be recorded). A problem exists with tracks that have quiet parts during the track, Auto End might incorrectly detect this quiet part as the end of a track and prematurely end. With Smart Track Lengths an estimate of the length can be typed from the album cover:

Select each track in turn and type the length, now Auxiliary Input is smart enough to only listen out for Auto End near the actual end of a track (Auto End can be set to end on a shorter threshold, 1-2 seconds could be enough with Smart Track Length).

Smart Track Length can also be used to record a set length, if Auto End is switched off, Auxiliary Input will record tracks exactly as the length entered.

Correct Addition / Removal of Audio

When using Auto Start and Auto End the Power Pack correctly adds audio during the Auto Start detection stage to the final audio track (if auto start has a detection threshold of 2 seconds, this 2 seconds will be saved), inversely silence during the detection of Auto End is correctly excluded from recording.

Higher Recording Frequencies

On Options page are options to record 24 bit, more than 44 KHz and more than 2 channels (all dependant on sound card support).

Pressing reveals:

A Playlist (either m3u, or pls) listing all audio tracks can be written, Playlist Creation can name the Playlist based on artist and album names.

Output Recorded Audio sends the sound that is being recorded out through the sound card so it can be listened to whilst being recorded (useful if manually controlling a recording). For this option to work your sound card must be full duplex, that is it can record and play at the same time, most modern cards are. WARNING: use this option with care, so a feed back loop is not established. For example if line-out was connected to line-in, if this option was checked all sound would be sent out through line-out and recorded again in line-in, this is a feed back loop and can be damaging to certain audio equipment.
